Regis Joseph Zweigart, 66, of Watkins, IA passed away January 19, 2024 at Heritage Specialty Care, Cedar Rapids, IA after a courageous 13-year battle with multiple sclerosis.

Regis was born August 28, 1957 to Walter and Helen (Schulte) Zweigart in Cedar Rapids. He graduated from Benton Community High School, class of 1975. He then continued his education, earning an AAS Degree in Ag Diesel from Kirkwood Community College; while helping his dad on the family farm. Following school, Regis farmed, worked for Leo Kelly Company in Blairstown and later worked for Frontier Natural Products Coop in Norway as a farm manager for several years.

Regis loved farming, forecasting the weather, country line dancing in his earlier years but more than anything he loved his family and was always proud of his children.

Over the years Regis used his talents to help others. He was a leader in his high school bands, graduated with high honors from Kirkwood, president for Chapter 1 of Iowa Organic Crop Improvement Association for 7 years, and played Taps for the Norway and Blairstown American legions, honoring many for over 40 years.

In 2010, Regis was introduced to Toastmasters, an organization that taught him speaking and leadership skills, which gave him the courage tell his story in front of many. He was a devoted member for 13 years, served in many leadership roles such as club president and area director, earned many awards including area director of the year and most of all, he gained lifelong friends who he considered family.

Regis was an inspiration to many and a friend to all.
He is survived by his son, Joey (Emily) Zweigart of Watkins; Twin daughters, Amanda Zweigart, Makayla (Hunter) Roenfeldt both of Bettendorf; and brother, Robert (Mary) Zweigart of Cedar Rapids.
Regis is preceded in death by his parents; son, Justin Zweigart (2019); and beloved dog, Teddy.
