David John Pippert, 82, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024 at St Lukes Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 21, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. 6th Street), Vinton. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at 10:30 AM at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Garrison, with Pastor Adam Baumann officiating. Burial will be held at Garrison Cemetery following the service. A reception will be held following the burial at the church. Memorials can be directed to St. Mark Lutheran Church.

David was born on December 27, 1941, in rural Garrison, he was the son of Richard and Alice (Selk) Pippert. He graduated from Garrison High School. Following high school, David attended Iowa State Teachers College. On May 26, 1963, David was united in Marriage to Diane Albertsen.

David enjoyed working on his family farm for the majority of his career. He also enjoyed boating and waterskiing on the Mississippi, attending bowling league at the Keystone Turner Hall, and was a lifelong Iowa State Cyclone fan. He was known for being a "Steward of The Land." He was very active in his congregation. David served as an elder, trustee, and president of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Garrison. Above all David cherished his family. He was a loving father and a great provider to his family.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Diane; his daughters, Renee (Michael) Schnurr of Roland, and Robin Pippert of Vinton; grandchildren, Gibson (Isabelle) Schnurr of Stockholm, Sweden, Maggie Schnurr of Chico, California, Thor Shoemaker and his fiancé Mercedes of Cedar Rapids, and Jovis Shoemaker of Ames; one sister, Shirley (Terry) Benfer of Cedar Rapids, numerous nieces and nephews, and many beloved friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
