Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, June 6, 2024, at St. Johns Catholic Church in Blairstown, with Rev. Jacob Dunne as celebrant. Interment will be held at St. Patrick and St. Paul Cemetery near Watkins. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until 10:15 AM on Thursday, also at the church.
Doris born March 26, 1929 to Ted and Rosetta (Arp) Schmidt at the family farm, North of Watkins. She attended country grade school, and graduated from Norway High School with the class of 1946. Following school, Doris worked in the office at Armstrong's Department Store, and also at Iowa Mutual Insurance in Cedar Rapids.
Doris was united in marriage to Everett Kintzel on October 18, 1950 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Watkins. They were married for 70 years, prior to Everett's death in November of 2020. Together they farmed the "home place" in the Olin area for 13 years before buying a farm in the Luzerne area in 1963 and farmed there until retiring and moving to Blairstown. Doris and Everett were members at St. Johns Catholic Church in Blairstown, where Doris was active in the Altar & Rosary Society, and a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters.
She enjoyed sewing, quilting, playing cards, and traveling. She enjoyed many activities, though the work closest to her heart was caring for and providing for her family.
Doris is survived by her children, Kathi (Mark) Fehr, and Dixie (Delbert) Caloud all of Clutier, Denise Kermeen of Farmington, MN, and Kelley (Rob) Glick of Marion, IA; her grandchildren, Travis Kintzel of Luzerne, Tyler Kintzel of Atkins, Jessica (Michael) Doyle of Independence, Jared Kupka of Traer, Jennifer (Chad) Brown of Tama, Melanie (Shawn) Neidick of Naples, FL, Megan (Lance) Bertram of Waterloo, Sara Bremenkampf of Colorado Springs, CO, Jamie (Nathan) Berg of Minneapolis, MN; and 25 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; 3 sisters, Geraldine (Ronald) Holladay, Jeanette Feddersen, and Patricia (Bob) Gambaiani.
In addition to her parents, and husband Everett, was preceded in death by her son, Gregory E. Kintzel in 2006; her grandson, Ryan in 2018; 2 sisters, Laverna Caslavka, Elaine Boddicker; and her brother Vernon Schmidt
