Obituaries : Gary D.Williams

Gary D Williams, 70, of Vinton, Iowa passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, Iowa. Visitation will be from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2024, at the funeral home.

Gary was born January 20, 1954, in Vinton, Iowa, the son of Harley and Edith (Coy) Williams.

Gary graduated from Washington High School in Vinton, Iowa. Gary spent most of his life selling truck parts and working behind the parts counter at Chapman Auto, Cedar Rapids Truck Center, and GATR. After retirement Gary spent his time doing many odd jobs, like working for Fareway, at the Casey's car wash, and at the Vinton Lutheran Home. Some of the things Gary loved most were fishing, racing cars, watching NASCAR races every Sunday, and riding his Harley any chance he got. Gary's most prized possessions were his daughter, Amanda, and his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Gary also had many good friends who he'd spend his time with, including special friend, Carl Duke. Gary will be missed by all of those who knew and loved him.

Gary is survived and lovingly remembered by his daughter, Amanda Williams (Chris Madsen) of Marion, Iowa; sister, Teri Tumilty of La Porte City, Iowa; brother, Randy (Shelly) Williams of Garrison, Iowa; two former stepchildren; five step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; and another on the way. Gary is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Harley and Edith.

The family would like to thank the staff at Mercy, Mercy ICU, Dr. Nabi and her team at the Hall-Perrine Cancer Center.
