Obituaries : Larry Lorenz Stueck

- Larry Lorenz Stueck, 80, formerly of Van Horne, died Thursday, June 20, 2024, at the Vinton Lutheran Home, following an extended illness.

Visitation will be 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, June 23, 2024, at Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home, Vinton. Private graveside services will be held.

Larry was born July 5, 1943, at Virginia Gay Hospital, Vinton, the son of Lorenz and Hulda (Seboldt) Stueck. He graduated from Van Horne High School in 1961. He joined the Iowa National Guard when he was a senior. Larry proudly served eight years of active and inactive duty. His lifelong passion was farming and John Deere tractors. He was very proud of his 1962 Chevy two-door hardtop. In 1966 at the Benton County Fair, Larry met a fair queen candidate, Delores Ann Wiley, and they began dating. They were married on April 15, 1967 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Van Horne. Delores preceded him in death in 2016. Larry and Delores's love story has now come full circle, with their reunion taking place during fair week once more. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Vinton.

Larry is survived by one son, Tim (Teri) Stueck of Cedar Rapids; one daughter, Jodi (David) Patrilla of Vinton; sister, Jean (Dennis) Haberhern of Fairfield Glade, TN; two grandsons: Ryan (Jessica) Abernathy and Evan Stueck; brother-in-law, Dennis Andresen; and several other family members.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Delores; his parents; and sister, Joyce Andresen.
