Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton, with Rev. Stephen Preus officiating. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held from 9:00 until 10:45 AM on Tuesday, also at the church. A memorial fund has been established.
Karen was born on May 8, 1938 in Van Horne, the daughter of Cecil and Norma (Wilhelmi) Flickinger. She graduated from Washington High School in Vinton, with the class of 1956. On June 30, 1957, Karen was united in marriage to Dale Hagen at Trinity Lutheran Church. Karen and Dale farmed and fed cattle near Vinton until retiring and moving to town.
Karen was a lifelong member at Trinity Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Benton County Cow Belle's and the Taylor Friendly Club. She enjoyed golf and bowling, and especially socializing throughout Benton County. She loved caring for and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband Dale; son Doug (Karen) Hagen of Groesbeck, TX; 2 daughters, Denise (Russ) Hupfeld of Vinton, Shari (Robin) Hagen of Hixson, TN; 6 grandchildren, Cole (Julie) Hagen, Wesley (Heather) Hagen, Travis (Steph) Hagen, Jeff (Jessica) Hupfeld, Joel (Megan) Hupfeld, Cory (Rob) Hagen; 9 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Wayne (Wanda) Flickinger of Las Cruces, NM, Kris (Bob) Birker of Vinton; brother-in-law, Dennis Michaelson; and her sister-in-law, Sandra Flickinger.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters, JoAnn Michaelson, Rosemary Boisen; and 2 brothers, Larry Flickinger, and Ronald Flickinger.
