Douglas D. Mansfield, 80, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away January 17, 2025 at Belle Plaine Specialty Care.

Douglas was born February 19, 1944 to Roy and Jeanne (Bohlman) Mansfield in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Douglas lived with his family in Wisconsin, California, and Gresham, Oregon, before moving to Belle Plaine, where he graduated from Belle Plaine High School, class of 1962. Growing up Douglas was known for being kind, generous, and always patient. In high school, he was well liked for his kindness and good nature towards everyone. He was a very good athlete playing basketball, football, and field sports.

Following school, Douglas moved to Marion, where he worked for Marion TV and Records, Alpha Crushstone in Springville, and taught guitar lessons from home. When he returned to Belle Plaine, Douglas spent time he was able to, helping his brother Steve around the King Theater.

Douglas was a dear Christian who loved the Lord. He had a talent for music, playing guitar, bass guitar, keyboard, vocalist, and also played as part of a duet folk singer. He was the lead guitarist for The Night Beats and The Major 7th.

Doulas is survived by his son, Brad Mansfield of Vandalia Ohio; sister, Linda (Mansfield) Eakin; brother, Steven Mansfield of Belle Plaine; nieces, Laura (Mansfield) Smith & Elizabeth (Byram) Yager; nephews, David, Scott, Rick, & Daniel Mansfield; Ty and Bret Davison; Jeff and Rob Byram.

Preceded in death by his parents; and son, Chad Mansfield.

Burial will take place at a later date.
