Hawley Dean Collingwood, age 94, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away January 30, 2025.
Services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, IA. Burial will take place in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Luzerne, IA with military honors.
Visitation is from 3-5 p.m. Friday, February 7th at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service, Belle Plaine. Visitation will continue at the church one hour before the service. Memorials may be directed to the Belle Plaine Ambulance service. Online condolences can be sent to www.neuhausfuneralsrevice.com
Hawley was born on December 19, 1930, on a farm near Wellman to Emily (Faas) Collingwood and Leroy Collingwood. He was the youngest of nine children. Hawley was baptized at the Lutheran Church in Wellman and received his education through eighth grade at St. Paul Parochial School in Williamsburg. He worked on his brother Sylvan's farm until he was drafted into the Army during the Korean War where he spent his tour of duty in Germany. He married Mary Teslik in 1954 and they moved to Belle Plaine in 1964 where they farmed for the rest of their lives. They had four children - Mark, Terry (Lori), Randy (Tina), and Rhonda (Jeff) Griffin; six grandchildren - Justin, Crystal, Hailey, Donna, Mary, and Jon and nine great grandchildren.
Hawley loved to fish, hunt, and spend time visiting with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary in 2002 and son Mark in 2016.
