Obituaries : Teresa (Teri) Ann Tumilty

Teresa (Teri) Ann Tumilty, 72, of La Porte City, Iowa passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025, surrounded by her family. Teri was born to Harley and Edith (Coy) Williams in Vinton, Iowa, on March 2, 1952. She was the first of three children. Teri attended Vinton schools and later, LaJames School of Cosmetology.
Teri owned and operated two successful businesses in La Porte City, Jolly Rogers Pizza and Teri's Cute Cuts and Crazy Curls.
On, January of 1969 Teri was united in marriage to Douglas Tumilty in Vinton, Iowa, later divorced. Out of their union came three amazing daughters, Renee (Brian) Sadler, Robyn (Ted) Oberhauser both of La Porte City, Iowa, and Rachele (Ted) Steffens of Waterloo, Iowa; six grandchildren, Katie (TJ) Davison, Emily (Matt) Gorkow, Conner, Olivia Steffens, Illian, Arden Oberhauser; and two bonus grandchildren, Thavier Eilander and Caelyn (KK) Schafer; four great-grandchildren, Lacy and Ruby Davison, Will and Ryan Gorkow; a brother Randy (Shelly) Williams; two special friends, Cathie Ehlers of California, and Terese Williams of New Jersey; and many nieces, nephews extended family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and one brother Gary Williams.
Teri will be remembered most for her contagious smile, talent for crafting, love of thrifting, willingness to cook and care for others, and her deep love for her family.
Graveside services will be held at Bear Creek Cemetery, 5181 26th Ave, Vinton, IA 52349 at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. A celebration of life will be held with family and friends following graveside services at La Porte City Community Center, 300 1st St, La Porte City, IA from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
