Betty Prusha, 91 passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Nation Cottage, Western Home Community in Cedar Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 18, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with the Rev. Michael McAndrew as celebrant. Interment will be held at National Cemetery in Vining. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone.
Betty was born March 8, 1934, in Keystone, the daughter of John and Viola (Kusel) Junge. She graduated from Keystone High School, with the class of 1952. On Jan. 19, 1957, she was united in marriage to Richard "Dick" Prusha at St. Michael Catholic Church in Belle Plaine.
Dick and Betty owned and operated Elberon Hardware for 40 years. She was very active in her community, where she served in the American Legion Auxiliary, Elberon Ambulance Service, and the Elberon Women's Club. She was one of the first female certified EMT service providers of the Elberon Ambulance. For many years Betty also volunteered as a Cub Scout Den mother and religious education instructor. She was a charter member of Tara Hills Country Club. Above all Betty was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She faithfully attended as many of her families' activities and athletic events as was humanly possible.
She is survived by her children; Kim Prusha of Omro, WI, Mark (Donna) Prusha of Waunakee, WI, Todd (Jo) Prusha of Cedar Falls and Lisa (Jim) Coyle of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Becky Coyle (Steve), Danielle (Alese) Coyle, Hannah Coyle, Gabriel Coyle and Jacob Coyle, Katie (Jonny) Rogers, Rachael (Tom) Divinnie, Abbie (Chase) Knock, Austin (Shannon) Prusha, Allison Prusha, Ana (Justin) Heller, Samuel Hrubecky, Pedro Hrubecky; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick; her parents John and Viola Junge; brothers Robert, Donald and Richard; daughter, Kay Lynn Prusha; son-in-law, Paul Hrubecky; and many other relatives and close friends.
