Obituaries : Lonnie James Kent

Lonnie James Kent, 68, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away August 11, 2025 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following a stroke.

Lonnie was born June 22, 1957, to Laverne and Elaine (Shoemaker) Kent in Belle Plaine, IA. Graduating from Belle Plaine High School, class of 1975. Lonnie drove truck for Farmer's 4 County Co-op, more recently Heartland Co-op, until retirement in 2018. Following retirement, he helped farm with Eric Root and other local farmers, and drove for O'Brien Trucking.

Lonnie's truck would often be found at the Iowa River Boat ramps, while he would be out running the banks Flathead fishing. If not fishing, he was pheasant or deer hunting; and teaching his boys about the outdoors. He also enjoyed playing pool and being with friends.

Lonnie is survived by his sons, Jed Wolf of Hills, Josh and Jared Wolf of Belle Plaine; and many more family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Tom, Rick and Dan Kent.

Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family.
