Doug was born December 22, 1950, in Anamosa, the son of Elbert Anson and Anna Maria (Wennekamp) White. He was united in marriage to Debra “Debbie” Sue Duchacek on September 2, 1972, at St. John Catholic Church in Blairstown. Together they shared over 50 years of marriage.

Doug dedicated his life to the automotive industry, working as an auto mechanic and in automotive parts and sales for many years. He was employed by Bruce McGrath, Jim Miller Nissan/Subaru, and Dave Wright Nissan/Subaru before retiring in 2017 after 48 years of service.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and “tinkering” in his garage. Doug also liked playing games on the computer and watching television, truly embracing retirement to its fullest. Above all, he dearly loved his family and cherished the time spent with them.

Doug is survived by his wife, Debbie; two sons, Jason (Laura) White and Shawn (Mel) White; nine grandchildren, Morgan, AJ, Jillian, Jozee (Ian), Jeana, Erin (Alex), CJ (Clara), Ryan (Emma), and Elisabeth (Drew); eight great-grandchildren; brother, Darle (Angie) White; sisters-in-law, Dixie Johnson and Deanna (Jerry) Daugherty; and several other family members.

He was preceded in death by his three brothers; Elbert Jr., Dean, and Dale White; nephew, Lee White; brother-in-law, Gary Johnson; and sister-in-law, Karen White.

Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial fund to be established.
