Florence "Flossie" E. Rippel, 98, passed away on April 14, 2026, at the Lutheran Home in Vinton.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E 6th St.) in Vinton with Pastor Darrien Adkins officiating. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, April 17, 2026.

Flossie was born on the family farm in Vinton, Iowa on November 7, 1927, to Earl and Adalaide (Quakenbush) Campbell. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Vinton in 1945. She was united in marriage to Roy Rippel on February 11, 1947. Flossie farmed with her husband for 18 years, and then worked in the Benton County Treasurer and Auditor for 9 years before she was the County Auditor for 27 years where she retired in 1992.

Flossie was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit #57, and served as its Treasurer for many years and as President for two years. She was very active in all activities and always willing to help when there was a need.

Flossie loved bowling, and bowled for 53 years, serving as Secretary/Treasurer for numerous years. She was a board member of the Women's Cedar Rapids Bowling Association for 18 years and was inducted into the Cedar Rapids Bowling Hall of Fame in 2000. She participated in many City, State, and National Tournaments. Flossie loved her family, and she especially liked going to all the activities of the grand-children and great-grandchildren. She was always willing to babysit when needed.

Flossie and her husband, Roy, loved to travel and spent many winters in the south after retiring. She also went to most of Roy's Navy Reunions which took them to many states.

Flossie is survived by her daughters, Janet (Joe Kaiser) Edler and Mary (Mike) Hanson; nine grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren; and her siblings, John "Jack" Campbell, Lois Purdy, and Marcia Relf.

Flossie was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Adalaide; her husband, Roy Rippel; her daughter, Shirley Jean Rippel; and her siblings, Charles Campbell, and Robert Campbell.
