Lois Mae Schellhase Wieditz, 83, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011, at the Vinton Lutheran Home following an extended illness. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Garrison with the Rev. Mark Leckband officiating. Interment will be held at the Garrison Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Phillips Family Center, 605 Second Ave., Vinton, from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday.

A memorial fund has been established.

Lois was born June 24, 1928, in Homer Township, to Arthur and Carrie (Banse) Schellhase. She graduated from Garrison High School with the class of 1947. On Nov. 13, 1960, she was united in marriage to Vernon Wieditz at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Garrison. Vernon preceded her in death on June 11, 2010.

Lois attended the Waterloo School of Beauty and owned Lois’ Beauty Shop until 1969. While living on the farm, Lois was a dedicated homemaker. She enjoyed socializing with family and friends and always enjoyed life. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy.

She is survived by her daughters, Dawn (Trent) Packingham and Ann (Mark) Schmelzer; her grandchildren, Pam Packingham, Toni Packingham, Alex Schmelzer and Brock Schmelzer; her brother-in-law, Wayne Wieditz; sisters-in-law Ruth Wieditz and Frances Wieditz, all of Vinton; and numerous nieces and nephews

In addition to her parents and husband Vernon, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Carra Marie Bauer and Anna Mary Schellhase.
