Marcia Thudium, 77, formerly of Vinton, passed away December 30 after a long illness in Kansas.
She is survived by her best friend and husband, Gary; her sister, Sonya (Tom) Davis and her children and grandchildren: Kimberly (Ed) of Wichita; Sylvan (Erin), Connor and Graham of Chicago; Andrew Shank of Lawrence, Kansas; Shawn (Dwyn) Thudium of Wichita; Valerie Thudium, of Kansas City, Kansas; Stephanie (Jeff) Basham and Tate of Wichita; Renee (T) Sweetwood and Grant of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Megan Sweetwood of Wichita; Andrea (Don) Dettke; and Lauren, Kimberly, Evan and Drew of Denver, Colorado. Mrs. Thudium was born September 26, 1934, in Hedrick, Iowa, to Evan and Irene Bowlin. She met her husband when they were students at the University of Iowa and they were married in 1955. They made their home in Iowa until 1981 when they moved to Wichita. Marcia was a stay-at-ome mom and Gary owned Wright's Pharmacy, now Clingmans. They were active members of the community. Marcia was an avid reader, golfer, school supporter and, with five kids, a busy mom. Gary was a Vinton promoter, golfer and active downtown businessman.
Marcia stayed home to raise her children until 1984 when she went to work at Foulston-Seifken law firm as a legal secretary. She retired 10 years later to travel with her husband, to pursue her many interests, and most of all to spend time with her family.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on January 3 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church on west 21st Street. Visitation with the family will be held Monday, January 2, 6-8 p.m. at Downing and Lahey Mortuary.
