VINTON: Lawrence Knuth, 95, died Thursday, April 19, 2010 at his Vinton residence following an extended illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, April 23, 2012 at Phillips Family Center, 605 2nd Ave, in Vinton with Rev. Clarke E. Frederick officiating. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton with Graveside Military Rites conducted by the
Emil H. Dutler American Legion Post #177 of Mt. Auburn and Iowa Military Funeral Honora. Friends may call at the Family Center from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. A Memorial Fund has been established.
Lawrence was born April 29, 1916 at Vinton to Ervin and Elizabeth (Heppe) Knuth.
During W.W. II, he served his nation in the US Army and was a member of the Emil H. Dutler American Legion Post #177 of Mt. Auburn.
On April 4, 1954 he was united in marriage to Mildred Weaver at Davenport. She preceded him in death on September 24, 2010.
Lawrence was a life-long farmer. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton and the Farm Bureau.
He is survived by two daughters, Sharon (Steve) Amato of Vinton; and Janice (Kent) Spangler of Lake Ozark, MO; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren;
In addition to his parents and wife, Mildred, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Roberta Knuth; his sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Wallace Newton.
