Obituaries : Harold \'Duffy\' Boore

INDEPENDENCE:

Harold “Duffy” Boore, age 55, died Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the Buchanan County Medical Center in Independence following a sudden illness.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 until 6:00 P.M., Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. 6th Street) in Vinton, where a celebration of life service will begin at 6:00 P.M.Private family interment will be held at a later date.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left for the family.

Harold was born on January 30, 1957 in Vinton, the son of Gordon and Mavis (DeVore) Boore. He had worked as a machine operator at the Assembly Mailing Company in Madison, WI.Harold enjoyed fishing and gardening and loved music, playing the drums and guitar.He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather and loved to make people laugh.

He is survived by his fiancé’ Diane Bennett of Independence; three children, Tara (William) Neer of Des Moines, Tracy (Joe Leonard) Boore Uthoff of Vinton, Samantha Boore of Owen-Withee, WI; ten grandchildren; one great grandson and one great granddaughter on the way; two brothers, Dennis Boore of Princeton, IA, Steven Boore of Davenport, IA; one sister Dorna Boore of Prairie du Chien, WI; his half-sister Ina (Terry) Brende of Cedar Rapids and his aunt Peggy Wullschleger of New Bedford, MA.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Deena House.
