KEYSTONE: Roy Dale Albers. 85, died Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at the Keystone Nursing Care Center in Keystone.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 19, 2013 at St. John Lutheran Church in Keystone with Rev. B. Andrew Wright officiating. Interment will be held at the Keystone Cemetery with Graveside Military Rites conducted by Merkel-Bockholt American Legion Post #107 of Keystone and Iowa Military Funeral Honors. Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone from 4 to 7 p.m., on Friday. A memorial fund has been established.

Roy was born November 5, 1927 in Keystone to George Alvin and Blanche Rosetta (Miller) Albers.

During the Korean War, he served his nation in the US Army.

On November 16, 1954 he was united in marriage to Colleen Koeppen in Dysart. Roy was proud to farm on the Albers Century Farm near Keystone prior to his retirement.

Roy was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Merkel-Bockholt American Legion Post #107 and the Turner Hall in Keystone.

He is survived by his wife, Colleen of Keystone; his sons, Bill (Jeanie) Albers and Denny (Wendy) Albers, all of Keystone; his daughter, Janet Albers of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, John (Brenna), Tyler (Suzie), Todd (Caliope), Nathan (Alyssa), Ethan (Mallory), Keaton (Ashley), Garret and Madison; his great grandchildren, Jade, Casen, Jacksen, Scarlet, and Cael expected in February; his sister, Leola Buch of Belle Plaine; his sisters-in-law, Audrey Papesh of Cedar Rapids and Connie Koeppen of Solon; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Dorothy, Lois and Ruby Albers; and his brother, Lloyd Albers.

The family expresses their gratitude to the Keystone Care Center, Mercy Hospice and Pastor Wright for the care and concern given to Roy.
