NEWHALL: Margaret Elizabeth Kreutner, 99, died Monday, January 14, 2013 at the Rockridge Residential Care Center in Shellsburg following an extended illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 18, 2013 at St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall with Rev. Steven Rempfer officiating. Interment will be held at St. John Cemetery near Newhall. Public Visitation will also be held at the church in Newhall from 4 to 7 p.m., on Thursday. A memorial fund has been established.
Margaret was born July 1, 1913 in Van Horne to Conrad and Elizabeth (Krug) Rinderknecht .
On February 7, 1936 she was united in marriage to William "Bill" Kreutner at her parent's home in Van Horne. The couple farmed and raised their family in the Vinton and Newhall area prior to retiring in 1975 and moving to the Newhall community. She was preceded in death by her husband, "Bill" on February 1, 2005.
A member of St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall, Margaret enjoyed membership in the Ladies Aid and the Quilters. She was also a member of the Ladies Farm Bureau.
She is survived by her sons, Gerald (Eileen) Kreutner, and Russell (Ann) Kreutner, all of Vinton; her daughter, Ardith Reinhardt of Cedar Rapids; her daughter-in-law, Linda (Mike) Patterson of Sloan; her grandchildren, Pam (Duane) England of Keystone, Karmen (Jeff) Stramer of Maple Grove, MN, Tammy Surface of Vinton, Becky Kreutner of Coralville, Sherri ("Jake") Isbell of Garrison, Brian (Jennifer) Kreutner of Vinton, Jeremy (Kristi) Kreutner of Peosta, Shawn (Sara) Kreutner of Vinton, and Julie (Brett) Butrick of Firestone, CO; nine great grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Betty Rinderknecht and Mary Ann Kreutner, both of Cedar Rapids.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, "Bill" Jr.; her son-in-law, Robert Reinhardt; her grandson-in-law, George Surface; her sisters, Esther Froelick, LaVerne Bierschenk and Eleanor Webert; and her brothers, Merle, Carl and Robert Rinderknecht.
