VINTON: Lester O. Kneeland, age 99, of Vinton, formerly of Gladbrook and Reinbeck, died Saturday, March 16, 2013 at the Vinton Lutheran Home following a brief illness.

Memorial Services will on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at the GladbrookUnitedMethodistChurchwhere Lester was a member. Interment will be held at BadgerHillCemetery, Gladbrook.

Lester was born May 25, 1913 in Toledo, to Jacob Earl and Virdie (Marken) Kneeland.

On May 25, 1938 he was united in marriage to Caroll Adeline Medberry at her sister's home near Gladbrook. After working as hired hands on the farm, Lester and Caroll farmed near Gladbrook from 1942 to 1961 and then near Reinbeck from 1961 to 1977. They retired and moved to Gladbrook in 1977 and then to the Lutheran Home Assisted Living Apartments in Vinton in November of 2002.

Lester is survived by his two sisters, Irma Vance and Mary Lensch; his children, Marcia (Tom) Beineke of West Bend, WI, Donna (Eugene) Enderson of Robins, Loren (Cathy) Kneeland of Knoxville, TN and Lois (Rev. David) Dutcher of Lawrence, KS; 12 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife Caroll on March 18, 2006; three brothers, Ira, Ivan and Delbert; one sister, Avis Hutchens and his in-law spouses.
