Helen M. Waddle, 86, of Urbana, Iowa, died Sunday, March 31, 2013, at Northbrook Manor Care Center, Cedar Rapids, after an extended illness. Services: 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2013, at St Mary’s Catholic Church, Urbana. Family will greet friends from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2013, with a 7:00 pm Scripture Service, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Donald (Mary) Fox of Cedar Rapids, IA, John (Lisa) Waddle of Coon Rapids, IA, Teresa (Kevin) VerMeer of Savage, MN; step-daughter, Jeanne Weispfenning of Clinton, IA; sister, Mary Ann Usher of Cedar Rapids, IA; step-daughter-in-law, Elna Waddle of Alpine, AZ; grandchildren, Chrissy McCray, Jacob and Jared Waddle, Billy and Logan VerMeer, Jeff Iburg and Alan & Mark Waddle; two step-grandchildren, Denise Willson & Dawn Hexom; several great grandchildren; one step-great-great granddaughter; sister-in-law, Jeannine Dvorak of Walker, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Donald Fox and Lenord Waddle; brother, Raymond; infant brother, Marshall Dvorak; son, James Fox; step-son, Dale Waddle; and brother-in-law, Jim Usher; step son-in-law, Rollie Weispfenning.
Helen was born on September 18, 1926, in Walker, Iowa, daughter of Frank and Libbie (Koutny) Dvorak. She graduated from Walker High School in 1943. Helen worked at Welch-Cook warehouse. On November 7, 1946, she married Donald R. Fox; he passed away on February 16, 1954. Then she married Lenord Waddle in Cedar Rapids, on June 11, 1960. She then farmed with her husband and was also a cook at Urbana Schools. Helen was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Urbana, where she was a member of the Alter and Rosary Society. She had a love of sports especially when watching her grandchildren play.
