On 3 October 2017 I had the privilege, pleasure, and honor to travel with 80 fellow Veterans to our Nations Capital, along with a number of EIHF Volunteers, and Guardians.

As we sat through the Candidate forum a few weeks ago, I was glad for one thing. That I didn't have to vote. I watched as the candidates talked about their experience, their plans and goals for the city, and I would have had a hard time choosing which guy to vote for! Sometimes you go to a debate between candidates and it's obvious who you'd think is better, or you watch a debate and say, out of all the people in the world, THIS is what we have to choose between? But not this time, not in Vinton.

To The Editor Our family supports Rich Hainstock for Vinton Mayor. During 2009 through 2012 Keith was a self-employed contractor. He worked for Rich doing a complete demo and reconstruction of the corner building located at 5th Street and 1st AVE, where there is now a residential living space upstairs, and Farm Bureau, Cedar River Inc.

To the Editor, There is a 7% Hotel/Motel Tax on the upcoming election ballot for November 7, 2017. While I live outside of Vinton, I live near enough to realize the negative impact this might have on the entire county and beyond.

To the Editor: The elections are right around the corner and we have some decisionsto make. For the first time in many years we will have a first time Mayor.

On the shelf of honor on my office baseball wall, the Houston Astros will occupy the World Series Champion's place, and remind us of the lessons we should learn from the 2017 World Series.

To the Editor: Dear Vinton residents, I am asking you to vote NO for the hotel/motel tax on Tuesday November 7. After I retired in 2011 I stayed at the Cobblestone Inn in Vinton every other week for several months working as a contractor.

Billy had just turned 16 when the Cuban Missile Crisis terrified America, and students throughout the U.S. -- especially in large metropolitan areas like New York City, where Billy was raised -- practiced "Duck and Cover" drills, to try to protect themselves from an atomic bomb.

To the Editor, Now that Trump has taken a butcher knife to the ACA, many of you like myself, have concerns about where healthcare is going to end up.

Editor: Regardless of the misinformed rhetoric of H. Clinton, Nancy Pelosi and others no Federally Licensed Firearms dealer can sell retail any firearm without a Federal Background Check.
