To the Editor:

A long habit of not thinking a thing wrong, gives it a superficial appearance of being right, and raises at first a formidable outcry. But tumult soon subsides. Time makes more converts than reason. – Thomas Paine

Thomas Paine wrote these words to stir his fellow Englishmen to stand up against the tyranny of the King of England.  These writings helped to inspire the movement that eventually led to the Revolutionary War.  What he was referring to was the complacency of the general public and their willing acceptance of the actions of the king.

As we look at the political landscape of today, does that same complacency still linger?  Do we, the citizens of this great nation, even get upset when outrageous actions are taken by our government or our elected politicians?  Do we speak out?  Or better yet, do we take any action at all?  Do we take the time to really study the complex issues of today or do we simply allow the “better” judgement of the all-knowing political class to make those decisions for us?  Are we simply acquiescing to a new King?

The votes that the citizens of Iowa are about to cast in this election may have a lasting and permanent impact on the landscape of this country and may full well determine if the United States of America remains a constitutional republic or if she turns the way of Europe and slides into a permanent state of socialism.

Not thinking a thing a thing wrong gives it the appearance of being right

What does that mean exactly?  The answer is in another question…  Do we hold our politicians to any type of standard anymore or have we accepted them as double talking, lying slime balls and just assume that this is the way of politics and politicians?  Have we accepted this behavior as being appropriate because time has made us converts or are we to the point where we simply don’t care to hear it anymore?

Today I will be making the case as to why this election and the candidate that Iowa selects on February 1st is so important to our future, the future of our children and the future of this nation.   Many Americans, especially on the conservative constitutional side of the isle are angry about the direction that our country has taken under the leadership of Barack Obama.  We have seen our rights slowly chipped away for the sake of PROGRESS.  We are starting to Fundamentally Transform as the President promised during his presidential campaigns.

Progress to what you ask?  We are progressing to the socialist utopia that is continually touted by the Democratic Party as the answer to all or our ill’s. The same utopia that brought Obama Care and a $22 Trillion dollar deficit. That’s why we are so angry, but is that anger clouding our judgement?  I think it is.

So how do we stop the never ending stream of lying, slimy socialist and Marxist politicians?  We must start by not accepting the poor behavior, lack of ethics and strive to set a higher standard for and higher expectations of our politicians.  I chose the one candidate that has shown those high standards his entire life.  He has proven throughout his life that he will support and defend the constitution of the United States of America.  That candidate is Ted Cruz. Why Ted Cruz and not Donald Trump?  This is really the question the majority of us are asking ourselves right now.  What is the big deal?  Trump is going to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN… right?

Mathew 7:15-16 : Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 16"You will know them by their fruits.

I will be the greatest jobs president that God ever created!- Donald Trump- 6/16/2015

Let’s look at few examples of The Donald’s record and the “fruits of his labor”.

Obama Care – Single Payer – Universal Health Care:

·         1999 – I am very liberal when it comes to health care. I believe in universal healthcare.

·         2000 – We need as a nation to reexamine the single payer plan

·         Sept 27 2015 - 60 Minutes Interview:  Everybody's got to be covered. This is an un-Republican thing for me to say. I don't care if it costs me votes or not. Everybody's going to be taken care of much better than they're taken care of now.”  Who is going to pay for it? “The government's gonna pay for it” says Trump.  Translation – You the tax payer.

Partial Birth Abortion 3rd Trimester:

·         October 1999 – Tim Russert Interview:  “I am Very pro-choice.  I just believe in Choice.”

·         2016:  “I am Pro-life – Period!”

Gun Control and the 2nd Amendment:

·         In his book published in 2000 “The America We Deserve” – “I support a ban on assault weapons and support longer waiting periods to purchase a gun”

·         “The Republicans walk the NRA line and refuse even limited restrictions.” (Donald Trump, The America We Deserve, print edition 2000, p. 102)

·         January 2016: “I am a big 2nd amendment person.”

Trump said this about Obama and the big bank bailouts:
Donald Trump: “First of all, I thought he did a great job tonight…I thought he was strong and smart, and it looks like we have somebody that knows what he is doing finally in office, and he did inherit a tremendous problem. He really stepped into a mess…” THEN he added, “Well, I think taxes are very good…” (Ilan Ben-Meir, That Time Donald Trump Praised The Stimulus Package On Fox News, Buzzfeed News, 7/20/15)

Trump Said this about Hillary Clinton:

CNN’s Wolf Blitzer:“[President Obama] thinks Hillary Clinton is going to be the Democratic nominee. What do you think?”
Donald Trump: “I think she will be. I know her very well. She’s very talented, and she has a husband that I also like very much. I think she’s going to get the nomination rather easily.” (CNN’s “The Situation Room,” 9/24/07)

Trump on Amnesty for Illegal Immigrants:
Donald Trump: “You’ve convinced me.” (Nina Terrero, “Donald Trump Tells Immigrant Advocates ‘You’ve Convinced Me’,” NBC Latino, 8/22/13)

Private Property Rights:

Trump wanted Vera Coking’s house in Atlantic City — not to live in, but as a place to park limousines for his casino next door. But Coking wouldn’t let him have it. No way. No how. Never.
“It is a classic case of a schoolyard bully growing up,” said Clint Bolick, who defended Coking in a 1990s lawsuit with Trump. “He’s a thug.” (Manuel Roig-Franzia,“The Time Donald Trump’s Empire Took On A Stubborn Widow – And Lost,” Washington Post,” 9/9/15.)

Supreme Court Nominations:

Donald Trump’s sister Maryanne Trump Barry is a Federal Judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit – the second highest court in the country. In Planned Parenthood of Central New Jersey v. Farmer, the Third Circuit struck down the New Jersey Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act, with Judge Trump Barry writing the majority opinion and offering a full-throated defense for legalizing infanticide:
The Legislature’s argument that Roe and Casey are inapplicable to ‘partial-birth” abortion procedures because such procedures are infanticide rather than abortion is based on semantic machinations, irrational line-drawing, and an obvious attempt to inflame public opinion instead of logic or medical evidence,” Trump Barry wrote.

Donald Trump: “I have a sister who’s on the Court of Appeals and she’s fantastic. I think she would be phenomenal. I think she would be one of the best [Supreme Court Justices].”(Frank Cannon, “Who Would Trump Appoint to the U.S. Supreme Court?”. The American Spectator, 12/23/2015)

This is just a small sampling of the issues that Trump has flipped on. He and his values are  diametrically opposed to the conservative constitutional values of most Iowans.   The media has yet to challenge him on his outrageous behavior and comments.  His comments and his actions play perfectly into the Democratic Liberal Media narratives.

War on Women:  When Megyn Kelly pressed Trump about misogynistic, sexist commentshe made in the past, such as calling some women "fat pigs, dogs, slobs, and disgusting animals." Trump slammed Kelly, saying her questions were "ridiculous" and "off-base.""You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes," Trump told CNN's Don Lemon on Friday night. "Blood coming out of her wherever."

Attacking Carly Fiorina:

Trump's expression sours in schoolboy disgust as the camera bores in on Fiorina. "Look at that face!" he cries. "Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next president?!" The laughter grows halting and faint behind him. "I mean, she's a woman, and I'm not s'posedta say bad things, but really, folks, come on. Are we serious?"  http://www.cbsnews.com/news/donald-trump-insults-carly-fiorinas-appearance/

What will Trump say about his sorted affairs and his comments about the number of women he has slept with?  How will the media portray him?  As a gentle soul that made a few mistakes or a philandering billionaire playboy?  A pompous, narcissistic ego-maniac that tries to steal an old ladies home?  What about his famous temper and propencity to lash out at anyone how gets in his way?  How would you explain Trumps behavior to your children?  How do you justify his treatment of women and his actions general?  Is this the person that you would want your children to emulate?

The list of transgressions goes on and on and on.  The media hasn’t even begun to tear into Trump.  They will have a feeding frenzy if he becomes the Republican nominee.  When they turn on Trump, you an almost guarantee that the Democratic nominee will be the next President of the United States.

So this leads me back to my original question. Does not thinking a thing a thing wrong give it the appearance of being right?   If we as parents and concerned citizens don’t start demanding better behavior and higher standards from our elected officials, then we will get what we deserve and our children will suffer the consequence of our poor choices.   I truly believe that choosing Trump put the future of country in grave danger and our The Constitution on life support.

The next President is going to have to make some very tough choices.  We have the potential of four Supreme Court seats that will need to be filled, we have an economy that is teetering on the brink of disaster, we have continually rising health insurance premiums and the value of the dollar is slipping.  There are continued wars and terrorist attacks, immigration issues and muslim refugees.  I am not comfortable leaving those decisions to a man who has proven that he has no core values, lack any type of morality and who truly believes that he is the smartest man in the room… always.

To all of you that are still on the fence, I would ask you to strongly consider throwing your support behind Ted Cruz.    For those of you supporting Ben Carson, Rand Paul, Carley Fiorina, Jeb Bush and the others, I would say this;   They are all honorable and decent people.  They all love this country and would do everything in their power to restore it, but they are not able to win this time around.  If we, the honorable caucus, do not unite around Ted Cruz, we will put Donald Trump into the driver’s seat and potentially into the White House.   We will anoint a king, not a public servant.  Donald Trump serves No One!
