Opinion : Letter to the Editor: Is this a triple feature?

I have been privileged to make 82 orbits around our sun.  So I have seen and witnessed a lot of foreign affairs, beginning with the Korean War, Then Vietnam (A cousin served in country, and I in Thailand both of us USAF). Then Panama, then Grenada.  Then Iraq (twice) then Afghanistan. Now we are fueling Ukraine’s War effort. We have spent billions of taxpayer dollars and the scorecard is dismal. Where have we won a decisive victory?  Only one - the first Iraq - 100 days and an agreement was reached to end hostility.  But Saddam was still in power and still creating mischief. But this gave our Army its Ma-cho back. An impressive victory with few casualties.

The number of Combat deaths = Korea - 36,634 Vietnam -57,969 Iraq - 4902 Afghanistan - 2402.  The total = 96,998.  In perspective; 2021 reported by CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention [Gov.]) 106,699 deaths by opioid and fentanyl overdoses.  A conclusion = it would appear one is safer in combat than being a regular drug addict. What are we doing to protect our young, from the opioids laced with fentanyl?  If not mistaken an editorial written by Todd Dorman, Cedar Rapids Gazette stated that the drugs brought from Mexico were not by illegals, but by citizen crooks; if wrong my apologies.  But what does that conclusion mean?  Illegals are not our drug overdose problem?  Draw your own conclusions.  Our borders remain open. The amount of illegal drugs plus fentanyl is overwhelming.  Some fentanyl packets captured would have killed the entire population of this country, but the kicker; many illegal drugs still get through. One could say the Mexican drug Cartels are only filling DEMAND and making millions in the process.  During the last Administration, the opportunity to funnel traffic to locations more easily controlled could have been made by building and finishing the wall.  But the Biden Administration abandoned that strategy.  Now he is selling the remaining fixtures at pennies on the dollar.  To me this is alarming he should have continued the wall building to completion.  The illegal crossings would still have occurred but would have been much easier to control.  Many Congressional officials have visited the border and have conferred with Border Patrol Officials, but the traffic still continues unabated.  The Biden Administration seems content to let thousands continue to cross our border unmolested.

O.K. I got off subject.  Let's go back to Ukraine vs. Russia.  President Biden has stated we will continue support until the end or words to that effect.  Not sure what that really means; are we willing to go to war with Russia?  Are we willing to shovel billions more of taxpayer dollars to this venture?  Are we willing to risk a Nuclear Exchange?  What is the end game:  We as citizens have a right to know. 

Is the mainstream media asking these questions?  If not, why not?

It's time we get some answers - where are you heading, Mr. President?
