Dear Editor, I just wanted to share a story for everyone to read, about a young lady that lives in the community of Vinton. She is 17 years old, going to be 18 at the end of this month. She did something that I dont believe in today's society happens very often anymore if ever. She thought about her team, her teammates and Vinton Shellsburg first. I want to tell you a little about this young woman. She loves volleyball, I mean loves to watch it, play it, and talk about volleyball. She is a member of the Vinton Shellsburg Varisty Volleyball team. Last nite she worked for another member of her team, so that young lady could play. The young lady that she worked for is a starter for the volleyball team, and the rule is, if you miss a practice you sit out the next game. This young lady took it upon herself to work for the starter teammate, knowing that she will sit out the next game, and the other player would play. The young woman that did this unselfish act truly shows what a TRUE team member will do for her team. I don't know how many people young or old would do that act of unselfishness to help someone not lose playing time or their spot. Well that's the story. I am proud to say this young woman, is my daughter Natasha. You truly are an amazing young woman, teammate, and daughter. No father could be more proud than I am of you. Thank You! Greg Becker
Editor's Note: VSHS volleyball coach Stephanie Miller added her comments, saying, " Nathasha is indeed one of the most unselfish athletes I have ever met."
