Hello everyone!

I would like to take this opportunity to publically thank all of you in the community who supported my trip to Cuba, especially Blessed Hope Church.

I went to Cuba as a spring break trip with the Northwestern College Symphonic Band. We were the first full band to tour in Cuba. We spent most of our time in Havana.

Cuba is a beautiful place. The scenery that stuck out to me the most though were the 1960’s cars! My band was not able to play as many concerts as planned because of the death of Hugo Chavez, president of Cuban ally Venezuela. The country went into three days of national mourning which meant that we were no longer allowed to play music, but that did not stop us from having the time of our lives.

We learned to salsa dance, spent some quality time on the beach and ate some amazing food!

Once again, I just want to thank everyone so much for supporting my trip. Please do not hesitate to contact me at andrea.hallberg@nwciowa.edu if you would like to know more about my adventure.

Andrea Halberg
