Sports : Area hockey players invited to CRHA open house; several V-S players involved

The Cedar Rapids Hockey Association,a non-profit organization, oversees the Jr. RoughRider youth travel hockey program. Approximately 130 children ranging in ages from 5 to 14 participate in the sport. The children are from families residing along the corridor in areas as far north as Waterloo and as far south as Iowa City. Four children from grades 3 to 6 from the Vinton-Shellsburg school system play on Jr. RoughRider hockey teams. On Thursday, August 15 the CRHA will hold an open house event. Parents curious to learn more about youth hockey and the opportunities hockey can provide from physical skill development, personal character growth, exercise, and fun are invited to attend this casual event at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena located at 1100 Rockford Road SW.
