Sports : Vikette soccer team loses at Independence, Solon

Grace Milroy moves the ball downfield vs. Independence.

Following 5-1 wins vs. Benton Community and Anamosa, the Vinton-Shellsburg Vikettes found themselves on the other side of a 5-1 score, losing by that margin to Independence on Friday, May 16. The Vikettes also lost, 6-0, at Solon on Tuesday evening.

Sophomore Chloe Osborn scored the Vikettes' loan goal vs. the Mustang. The team is now 7-6 on the season and will travel to Monticello Thursday before hosting West Delaware in the final regular season game of the year on Friday.

The Vikings begin their Class 1A Regional competition against Union, on Tuesday, June 3, in La Porte City.
