CR Xavier had the lowest team score in 4A in the State. There were lots of low scoring teams at this Regional. I was pleased that we shot 402. We had 195 on our front nine, which is close to our lowest round of the year, 191.

Sophomores Kaiti Kilpatrick and Lauren Tandy (their lowest 18 hole rounds this spring!) both shot in the nineties and Mara Jessen closed out her high school career with 101. I think it’s always tough for seniors who know this is their last high school competition if they don’t move on to State; it puts some added pressure on the day. Our team saw a lot of improvement this season, so we met one of the goals I set for 2014. We will hope that our young team plays over the summer; that will make having “four in the forties” more attainable. It has been a very gratifying season for me as a coach. I’m proud of what our team has accomplished. We were a very young team who learned a lot, and we were grateful for the senior leadership of Mara Jessen. She will be missed by all of us.
