Sports : Blowout brings VS athletes, cheerleaders together for pre-season introductions

The VSHS football players put on their pads and helmets to scrimmage against Marion; the volleyball team members scrimmaged against each other.

And every athlete and cheerleader involved in fall sports at the high school and middle school level --- along with their coaches -- had the chance to stand before the home crowd during the annual Vinton Shellsburg Blowout.

Admission to the event was a bottle of sports drink, to be used for athletes in future events.
