TAMA - The short-handed Vinton-Shellsburg wrestlers went 1-4 for the day at the rugged South Tama dual meet tournament. But with only eight of 14 weights filled, Coach Brian Sheston Vikings still made some strong showings.

The Vikings rolled past Iowa City Regina, 42-12, but dropped duals to Des Moines East 54-27, Solon 59-12, South Tama 59-21 and Dubuque Wahlert 35-33. Sophomore 132-pounder Brady Ortner and 138-pounder Bryce Radeke were both 5-0 on the day with four falls each; Ortner also had a 17-0 technical fall. Senior 220-pounder Chris King went 4-1 with three falls and junior 126-pounder Damon Swenson was 3-2 with one fall. Jimmy Mull at 145, Cayden Kelley at 160 and Caleb Rouse at 195 were each 2-3 and Curtis Erickson was 1-4. The Vikings will be back in action Thursday night when they travel to Marion for a double dual with the Indians and Iowa City Regina. They'll wrap-up their pre-holiday slate Saturday when the compete in the Iowa Falls-Alden Invitational.
