Grinnell came to town Tuesday and the Storming Vikings met them with yet another strong performance in convincingly winning a dual meet 58-36. Both squads were down a few kids due to illness or injury, but the Grinnell was without one of their top performers which certainly made the final score a bit more lopsided than the talent levels of the two squads would indicate. But the home team swan exceptionally hard with guys up and down the line-up exceeding their seed times considerably. On the night the team recorded 26 new season best times and came out on top in nearly every close race.

The evening started with the Stormin Vikes winning 3 of the 4 first events. The Medley Relay of Ian Allsup, Ian Vrba, Broden Farrell and James DeSmet took first in a relay season best time. In the 200 Free junior Wesley Farrell cruised to a comfortable win to put his team up 11-7. After a Grinnell win in the 160IM, the Stormin VIkes surged ahead with a dominant 1, 2 performance in the 60 Free led by Senior Ian Vrba and Junior James DeSmet. At the first break is was 22-12.

In the second part of the meet, the home squad blew it wide open with four straight wins. Ian Allsup in the 100 Fly, Broden Farrell in the 100 Free, Wes Farrell in the 500 and then a new team record in the 160 Free Relay set by Vrba, DeSmet, Brayden Beck and Ian Allsup. This marked the third consecutive meet the team has broken a record. At the second break, the meet was largely decided with the score sitting at 42-26.

The final leg opened with another 1-2 win in the 100 back with Ian Allsup and Wes Farrell leading the way. The score now stood at 49-27. A second by Ian Vrba in the 100 Breast and then another win in the 400 Free Relay finished the night.

The team has already shifted its focus to Thursday's senior night at home against WaMaC foe Williamsburg. Start time is 4:30pm.
