This Saturday, October 12, the community will light up the night for the 4th Annual Nathan's Miles Glow Run, a vibrant event filled with fun, fitness, and support for local students. The event, which kicks off with a Kids Glow Run at 6:15 p.m., followed by the 5K at 7:00 p.m., is expected to draw participants from across the area for an evening of glow-in-the-dark excitement.
This year's Glow Run promises perfect weather, making it an ideal time for families, runners, and walkers to hit the trail. Whether participants want to race or simply enjoy a leisurely walk under the stars, everyone is welcome to take part in the fun. Tyler Sean Entertainment will provide lively music to keep the energy high throughout the night, while attendees can snag some free glow gear and purchase official Glow Run swag to remember the event.
Opal and Hazel's Wood Fired Pizza will also be onsite in the high school parking lot, serving up delicious pizzas all night long.
Even if you haven't registered, you can still come out and enjoy the festivities, it's a great way to come together as a community and have some fun while supporting a meaningful cause.
Last year, the Nathan's Miles Foundation raised enough through registrations and generous donations to award two $2,000 scholarships to graduating seniors at Vinton-Shellsburg High School. With over 200 participants in 2023, organizers hope to see an even bigger turnout this year to continue supporting local students through scholarships.
The Nathan's Miles Glow Run was established in memory of Nathan Hesson, a Vinton City Councilman, son of Kevin and Deb Hesson, husband of Ashley and dad to Lily and Noah.
So lace up your sneakers, grab some glow sticks, and head to the Vinton-Shellsburg High School trail this Saturday for a night of fun, fitness, and community spirit!
