The Izaak Walton League was formed in 1922 to save outdoor America for future generations. The League's founders, who were avid anglers, named the organization after Izaak Walton, the 17th century author of The Compleat Angler, one of the most famous books on fishing. We are one of the earliest conservation organizations to set an aggressive course to defend wild America by changing public policy. 

 RED CEDAR CHAPTER

The Red Cedar chapter was founded in 1952 and for more than half a century, has been devoted to the protection and restoration of our natural resources to ensure our soil, air, woods, water and wildlife will be available for future generations.  An active part of our area, we offer opportunities regarding conservation, energy, wildlife, outdoor ethics, shooting sports, river clean-up, trail care and creation, and facilities and opportunities for Boy Scouts and other youth groups. 

We encourage our members to enjoy the chapter grounds that we offer. This includes our two regulation trap ranges, 100, 50, and 25 yd. rifle/handgun ranges and our archery range.  We also have a Day Bird Sanctuary, Eels Prairie, and the Tobin Trees of Iowa.

Trap- Every Thursday 6:30 p.m.  April 2nd through November 19, 2026

 $5.00 per Round. Bring a gun, ammo and Personal Protective Equipment.

Pistol Steel Shoot

2nd Wednesday of the month 6:00 p.m.

April 18, May 13, June 10, July 8, August 12, September 9, October 14 (5:30 p.m.).

Cost: $5.00 per person for the night. Bring a gun, ammo and Personal Protective Equipment.

.22lr Bench Rest Shoot- 3rd Wednesday of the month 6:00 p.m.

April 15, May 20, June 17, July 15, August 19, September 16, October 21, November 18 (5:30 p.m.)   

$5.00 per person for the night. Bring a gun, ammo and Personal Protective Equipment..

Jakes Day/Sportsman Day

May 16, 8:30 a.m. registration and 9:00 a,m, start. This is a FREE public event.

Bring the kids and try BB guns, archery, trap .22lr, camping and fire starting demos.

Lots of hands on learning and  Lunch served.

Rifle Camp

June 20, Public event  9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. all ages welcome

Lunch served   

$10.00 per person.
