The Vinton – Shellsburg Special Olympics Team is in the process of raising money to purchase complete uniforms for each of its 40 members, and to help with transportation and equipment expenses involved with a team this size.    The team consists of disabled school age children ages 8 to 21 in the Vinton – Shellsburg school district.

We have received a quote from Tharp Design in Vinton to provide matching jackets, pants, shirts and shorts for our athletes. In order to purchase the necessary number of uniforms, and provide for operating expenses, we need to raise $6,000.

Although we receive some financial support from the Vinton – Shellsburg school district when we go to state competitions, there is not enough money to purchase uniforms or equipment we need. We have applied for various grants from the community and are working on several other fundraisers including a silent auction and raffle.

We are in need of donated items for a silent auction to be held on March 27th, during the Vinton Home Show, to benefit Vinton – Shellsburg Special Olympics. Of course cash donations are acceptable as well. We have an account set up with Special Olympics Iowa, a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization which makes your donation tax deductible.

Cash donations can be made out to:
“Special Olympics Iowa to benefit Vinton – Shellsburg” and mailed to

Donated items will be picked up by March 13th by a VS Special Olympics representative.
Please contact any one of us at the numbers below if you need further information.

Your support is sincerely appreciated.
