Over the years, sisters Liz and Sarah Hill made a lot of history for the Vinton-Shellsburg softball program. Tuesday night, they made a little more. After four years as teammates for the Vikettes, and one season (so far) as teammates at Mount Mercy College, the Hills -- the daughters of Scott and Vicky Hill of Shellsburg -- were opposite dugouts Monday night as opposing assistant coaches. Liz is in her second season as an assistant for Center Point-Urbana, while Sarah is in her first as the Vikettes' middle school coach. Prior to the second game of Monday night's doubleheader at the Bob Bowers Sports Complex, Vikette head coach Bari Parrott and CPU head coach Kevin Johnson brought the Hills out with them to exchange line-up cards. There were smiles all around as the two exchanged cards and shook hands. While the first game went Sarah's way with a 3-2 Vikette win, the second went to Liz as the Pointers stormed back for an 8-2 win. Reader Comments: Loved the story on the Hill girls and the great picture. I've shared this on my facebook & emailed it to other relatives out of state. The girls poured their hearts into Vinton softball, and have taken that energy on to the college level as well. THANKS so much for this coverage!!
----- The Hill girls are true winners in every way. We shared many great moments with them following the Mount Mercy Softball team. Our daughter Brianna was one of the team captians and a senior, she knows the team is in good hands the next few years with their continued leadership. Sandy Williams
