With three-time state champioin Jessica Sindlinger of Charles City leading the field at 8-under par, the rest of the Class 4A field in the girls golf meet remained above par after Day 1 of the State Girls Individual Golf Meet, with the exception of Mackenzie Black of Independence, who made par of 73 to finish second.

Vinton-Shellsburg golfer Natalie Ketchen finished with a 91, tied for 17th place; Vikette Erin Randall carded a 94 and is tied for 21st heading into Wednesday's Day 2 at the Ames Golf & Country Club.

The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union has canceled Day 2 of the event due to stormy weather; thus the Day 1 scores are now the official final scores.

TP May 29, 2013, 8:50 pm Just a comment to congratulate Coach Janet Woodhouse on another successful season. It is your constant encouragement, leadership and organization that has helped these girls get to where they are today. Thank you for making this such a positive experience for them.
