Sports : Regional softball: Vikettes host Marion in Round 1, Thursday

The Vinton-Shellsburg softball team heads into the post-season having beaten 20 of the 24 teams it has faced.

The Vikettes earned splits in most of their double-headers during a season in which they finished with 22 wins and 15 losses.

V-S hosts Marion Thursday in the first round of regional action. The winner of that game plays Saturday at Benton, which received a first-round bye. The regional final takes place in Carlisle on Tuesday, July 16 (all games are at 7 p.m.)

In the regular season, V-S played Marion in June, winning 4-2 and losing 3-2. See the Vikettes' season stat page HERE.
