Saturday morning Boomfest events were put on hold for just a few minutes to welcome a new business to town. Vinton Unlimited held a ribbon cutting at Mystical Moments and More which opened in downtown Vinton. The business is located at 423 1st Ave. in Vinton. The business was opened by Angie Climer, and will operate with the assistance of family and friends.

Fareway Stores, Inc. is partnering with The Iowa Wave Shirt to conduct the fourth annual Round Up at the register from August 26 – September 7 at all Iowa store locations, the two weeks ahead of the Iowa vs. Iowa State football game.Customers will have the opportunity to round up to the next dollar or provide an additional donation on their grocery bill to help fund The Iowa Wave Shirt’s mission.

The Grain Indemnity Fund serves as a low-cost insurance policy for Iowa farmersThe assessment on grain sold to or deposited at Iowa-licensed grain dealers and warehouses as part of the Iowa Grain Depositors and Sellers Indemnity Fund (Grain Indemnity Fund) will continue for an additional year. Barring any further claims made against the fund, the assessment is anticipated to cease on August 31, 2025, in accordance with Iowa law.

Only projects based in Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska and northwest Arkansas are eligible to apply.

Here's a sneak peek at The Niche Wine Room! There will be a Grand Opening on Thursday, August 15 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. with a ribbon cutting at 5:30 p.m.The Niche is located at 115 W. 4th Street, Vinton.There will be a wine sampling and tickets will be $15 for 15 samples. Wine will also be available for purchase by the glass or bottle. There will be charcuterie boards for purchase and some free appetizers.
