Several homes are competing this year in the annual "Deck the House" Contest
Vinton, City of Lights continues the annual Deck the House contest this year. The Contest also includes businesses, so don't forget to vote for these competitors as well.
Organized by Vinton Parks and Recreation, there are two categories of voting in the residential contests. There will be three winners for the Griswold Display. For those wondering what that means, according to the urban dictionary, it is "a house or display that has been decorated with way too many holiday lights, to be almost blinding. Origin is from the 1980s movie "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation," starring Chevy Chase as Clark Griswold."
Ballots should be submitted no later than Wednesday, December 15th at 7:00 p.m. to the Rec Center. Ballots can also be dropped in the dropbox. Winners will be announced on Friday, December 17 at 5:00 p.m.
First-place winners will receive $500 in Vinton Unlimited bucks and a "Champion" yard sign, second place will get $300 in VU bucks and third place will get $200 in VU bucks.
