The parking lot at Harvest 365 Church looked like a giant had scooped out a bite of the earth and left a perfect little mountain behind. The guy responsible for plowing the parking lot pushed the snow into one almost-mountain-sized pile in one corner, and turned it into the best sledding hill anyone under five-feet-tall had ever seen.

It was exactly 33 degrees (cold enough that you needed a coat and warm enough that your fingers didn ¢â‚¬â„¢t go numb in five seconds). The snow was just mushy enough on the lot to walk in, but the hill had that clean, squeaky sound when you place a sled on it.

The hill wasn ¢â‚¬â„¢t big (about 3 seconds from top to bottom if you were lucky), but it was theirs. No lift lines, no rules, just the church ¢â‚¬â„¢s empty lot turned into a winter playground for the afternoon.

Tonight we'll have ice and wind and it might make the little hill a bit more dangerous, but for now, it's perfect sledding weather. And for these kids, it was enough.
