Margie Alice Volesky, 92, passed away August 31, 2021 of natural causes at Rose Haven Nursing Home in Marengo, Iowa.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Newhall with Father Craig E. Steimel as Celebrant. Visitation will be held at the church before Mass on Tuesday from 9:00 to 10:45 with a rosary recited at 9:00 a.m.. Interment will be in St. Patrick's & St. Paul's Cemetery, Watkins. Masks are recommended at church.
Margie was born on July 1, 1929, Solon, Iowa, the daughter of Ernest and Alice (Dvorsky) Zenisek. She attended school in Fairfax and graduated from St. Patrick's High School in 1946. She graduated from Mt. Mercy Junior College in Cedar Rapids and was employed in Cedar Rapids.
On March 27, 1951, Margie was united in marriage to Marvin Volesky at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Fairfax. The couple farmed in the Fairfax/Swisher area for eight years and purchased their farm near Newhall where they raised their four children. Margie was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Newhall, a member of the Catholic Order of Forester and the Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed the farming life, gardening, baking, sewing quilts, traveling with her husband, Marvin and spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Margie is survived by two daughters; Barb (John) McCray of Maquoketa and Kathy (Doug) Schmuecker of Marengo; one son, Gary (Barb) Volesky of Newhall; one brother, Harold Zenisek of Fairfax; and 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; Christina (Terrance), Cali and Levi Nissen; Jennifer (Dave) and Jaden DeWitt; Julie (Jason), Sara, Brianna and Luke Povlick; Robert (Beth), Lucy, Molly, Sam and Wesley Volesky; Matt (Kristy), Brooklyn, Kaitlyn and Joslyn Volesky; Alex (Dana), Madeline Volesky; Emily (Mitch), Claire Downey; Nathan (Elisabeth Peiffer) and Olivia Schmuecker; and Nick (Sara) Schmuecker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Ernest and Alice Zenisek, her husband, Marvin; her son, Mark and one sister, Inez Atwater.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Newhall or Blairstown Emergency Services or to Camp Courageous.
