Wayne A. Simnacher, age 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at his home in Vinton.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 PM, Sunday, December 26, 2021 at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. 6thStreet) in Vinton. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, December 27, 2021 at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton.

Wayne was born, on July 9, 1937 in rural Benton County, the son of Ferdinand "Fred" and Violet (Ness) Simnacher. He graduated in the first class of Washington High School in 1955. On June 12, 1963, He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Mary Ellen Jabens in Garrison.

Wayne was a master metal fabricator and machinist. He worked as a maintenance supervisor at Hawk-Bilt Co. in Vinton until it's closing. Wayne loved to bring cars and machinery back to life. He was a gifted mechanic and was able to make anything run again. Through the years, Wayne had many car restoration projects with his sons, and wife Mary handling the interiors. He was especially proud of his 36' coupe.

He is survived by his sons, Dwayne Simnacher, and David Simnacher, both of Vinton; and his nephews, Paul Jabens, Dan Jabens, and Kurt Kerkman.

He was preceded in death by her parents; beloved wife Mary on December 14th; and his brother John F. Simnacher.

I always enjoyed your parents when they would come in and have a beer and a Tenderlion at the hitchin post with me. They were a great couple to get to know.
