Nathan John "Nate" Junge, Atkins, passed away on Monday, January 2nd2023, at St Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, surrounded by his loved ones, after a courageous seven and half year battle with colon cancer.

A visitation will be held at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Atkins on Thursday, January 5th from 3-7 pm. Funeral services will be on Friday, January 6that 10:30 AM, at St. Stephen's with Pastor Doug Woltemath officiating. Burial will take place at St. Stephen's Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the church.

Nate was born August 24, 1981, to Martin and Kristie Junge, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He grew up in Van Horne and attended Benton Community High School, graduating in 1999. After high school he attended Hamilton Business College.

On October 23, 2004, Nate married his high school sweetheart, Tami Wilhelmi. They were united in marriage at St. Stephens Lutheran Church. Together they have 3 children.

Nate started working at Junge Control right out of high school and he continued working there for 20 years. Nate made many friends in the agriculture industry and was well respected by his peers.

In the spring of 2020, Nate began his own business, JFF Technology, an agricultural technology company. He took on the challenge of building a business that ended up being a great bonding experience for him and his sons.

He served as a member of the Keystone Turner Hall boardand was one of the members who oversaw the building of the new turner hall in 2007 and served as treasurer in 2008.Nate also served on the board at Central Lutheran School for 6 years, where his children attend. He was a crucial part in helping the school rebuild after the 2020 derecho.He also served as a Trustee at St. Stephens Lutheran Church, in Atkins.

Nate enjoyed spending time with his family, and he loved being a dad. He liked to attend his children's activities, take family trips, and being able to spend time at home cooking and watching football together.

Nate enjoyed bowling league with his friends, coaching the Central Lutheran School Football team for several years, woodworking, and gardening. He was a town kid who found himself living on a farm and raising hogs.

He is survived by his wife Tami and children Laura, Jacob, and Cael Junge, all of Atkins; his mother Kris Junge of Van Horne; his brother Noah (Meghann) Junge of Jesup, his sister Megan Junge of Cedar Rapids; his grandmother Shirley Jurgens of Keystone; his grandfather Irk Junge of Keystone; his parents-in-law Nancy and Ed Wilhelmi of Atkins; his sisters-in-law Deb (Marty) Gorkow of Norway and Kathy (Peter) Wiklund of Davenport; his nieces and nephews Mason, Claire, Colin, and Dylan Junge, Angie (Turner Schroeder), Megan, and Sarah (Nathan Werning) Gorkow, Seth (Taryn Kopf), Morgan, Grace, andEmma Schneiderman and Sophie and Hudson Wiklund, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Marty Junge, Grandmother Betty Junge, Grandfather Dean Jurgens, and his uncle Rick Jurgens.

The family would like to thank Dr. Chirantan Ghosh and staff, Dr. Wook Lee and staff at Hall-Perrine Cancer Center, the Helen G. Nassif Center, Unity Point Palliative Care, and the staff at St Luke's Hospital. The care these teams provided during his fight will never be forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for the family at Dupaco Credit Union.
