Wayne "Butch" Edwin Kuhnle was born May 22, 1940, in Marengo, Iowa, the twin son of Edwin H. and Selma C. Conrad Kuhnle. He attended Ladora Schools. On May 4, 1963, he wed Karen Sue Campbell at St. James Lutheran Church in Victor, Iowa. They were blessed with two daughters, Connie and Kristin.
Wayne joined the U.S. Army in 1963, based out of Ft. Carson, Colorado where he drove a fuel truck. After his service, he came back to the Ladora area. He then began working for the Iowa Highway Commission/DOT until he retired in 1996. Wayne's interests included hunting, bass fishing, bowling, bingo, blackjack, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Karen; daughters and their spouses, Connie and Steve Niemeyer, and Kris and Gary Timm; grandchildren, Cory (Ashley) Timm, Stew (Steph) Timm, Ben (Kelsey) Timm, Travis Timm and Mandi Niemeyer (Colin Hager); great-grandchildren, Tryce and Kree Timm, Bexton, Remsley and Halstyn Timm, Madelyn, Lincoln, and Kaylee Timm, Brooks, and Owen Timm, and Wrenley Hager; a sister, Donna (Eldon) Doehrmann; sisters-in-law, Sally Campbell and Janice Campbell; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Wayne left us on July 31, 2024, at Belle Plaine, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Selma; infant twin brother, Dwayne Bernard; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Darol Cooling, his in-laws, Vaughn Campbell; Minnie (Bernie) Wallace; brothers-in-law, Ron, Keith, and Jack (Delores) Campbell; and nephews Roger Campbell and Jonathan Doehrmann.
A memorial service for Wayne will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, with Pastor Tim Miller officiating. Inurnment will be at ­­­­Genoa Bluffs Cemetery, rural Ladora. Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Army Honor Guard and the Marengo American Legion Post # 76. A memorial fund has been established.
