Letter to the Editor: Kabul and America

Dear Editor,

Maybe my skin is getting thin in my old age but the disaster in Kabul has been weighing heavily on me. And to top the day off, proud Christian American that I consider myself, I read a request for emergency prayer from a pastor with missionaries in Afghanistan. Seems like 229 Americans have been sentenced to death TODAY by the Taliban.

Any word from the media? Any word from the President, good, honest Catholic, pro-choice, liberal slime ball that he is?! Not a peep.

The prayer alert went on to articulate the American Christians that are being beheaded in Iraq as well. Exactly WHEN are we, the upstanding American citizens going to defy, the tyranny and silence from our "leaders". Judges, Mayors, Governors and even damn School Boards think they have the power to dictate to us, with legal consequences added as a threat, whatever edict or written order they choose. Science, my ass. It's all about power.

And we, the white hats of conservatives, have yielded at every turn. Mothers get escorted from public meetings when questions about Critical Race Theory and mandated masks for children in schools are the topic. Where does this end?

DO YOU CARE?!?

Our children deserve our best and maybe aggressive protection from any and all threats. WAKE UP AMERICA. STAND UP FOR YOUR RIGHTS. No one is going to give them to you. They need us to fight for them.

All of us who think beautiful posted photos of sunrises or calm beaches are a distraction from the realities around us, need to fine-tune our lenses to help open others' eyes, not lull them into a dreamy world that does not exist today.

GS September 2, 2021, 3:49 pm First, all of us have a responsibility to differentiate between disinformation and objective assessments of the world around us. Second, if the Afghans, after having been trained and armed at the expense of the U.S. for the past 20 years, won't stand and fight against the tyranny of the Taliban (to protect their wives and daughters) and the murderous ISIS (who kill their fellow Muslims with glee) why should John and Jane the kids who live down the street from you or I and have the courage to join our military, have to do it for them?

GB August 21, 2021, 12:25 pm Regardless of what Norma believes, the Taliban have a long track record of human rights violations. It doesn't require a mental giant to realize what they will do to anyone who is not Taliban. As for Biden, if Trump was the current president and he displayed an ounce of the incompetence Biden projects, the left would be screaming for impeachment. Biden should not only be impeached, he should be tried for treason along with his entire administration.

I have searched the internet and the news sites and there is nothing about it anywhere. A story like that but only one so called minister knows about, fake news. For you to call our president a slime ball makes you the slime ball. Critical race theory is not taught in grade school or high school. It is taught in college, in law school. I don't know why that is so hard for people to understand. This newest Delta variant is way more serious than what we had before and it is affecting more children. Why anyone would be against children wearing a mask is beyond me. All Abbot and DeSantis are concerned about is running for president, that is foremost on their minds, not taking care of the people of their states. The courts have just told Abbot the schools don't have to follow his mask mandates, YAY for the people of Texas. I care very much and the parents of Florida and Texas and the other red states care about their children but they shouldn't have to take their Governors to court in order to protect their children from the virus.
