The night after winning his first IMCA Modified feature race in Independence, Tysus Pattee said he was still smiling as he worked with other uniformed IMCA officials during Sunday's race in Vinton.

Pattee, in his No. 68 car with the Donkeykong-themed wrap, began Saturday's feature in the pole position and fought off two challengers through three cautions to hang on for his first career feature win. The race was even more special because it was the 500th Modified feature race to take place on the Independence track. Along with the feature trophy, Pattee received a special plaque commemmorating the unique win.

Pattee is married to Amber, the coach of the reining state champion VS boys bowling team. He said he plans to race next Sunday in Vinton.
