Sports : Viking Alum Miller helping 11th-ranked Central track team

VS alum Phil Miller is a senior on the Central track team; he placed 2nd & 4th in recent events.

PELLA -- Phil Miller, a 2008 Vinton-Shellsburg graduate and a senior on the Central College men's track team, is enjoying a successful season for the Division III 11th-rated Dutchmen.

Miller, a three year letter-winner at Central, placed second in the shot put with a distance of 49 feet, 3.5 inches; and fourth in the weight throw (51 feet, 7.s5 inches) during a meet earlier this month at Wartburg.

Miller and his teammates will compete in the Iowa Conference meet this weekend, at Cornell College in Mount Vernon.

In addition to track, Miller was involved in many activities at V-S, including football, wrestling, baseball and FFA.
