Kirkwood Foundation receives estate gifts

The Kirkwood Community College Foundation recently received two estate gifts, creating more scholarship opportunities for future students at the college. The Foundation received more than $350,000 from the estate of Mary Jeanne Palmer, formerly of Cedar Rapids. These funds will create the Mary Jeanne Palmer Memorial Endowed Scholarship to support international study abroad for Kirkwood Community College students.

Frank Van Steenhuyse AMES, Iowa – Frank Van Steenhuyse and Gail Zea, funeral directors at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home in Vinton, recently attended the 130th Annual Iowa Funeral Directors Association (IFDA) Convention, held May 11-13, 2010, at the Iowa State Center and Gateway Hotel in Ames, Iowa.   Gail Zea commented, “The keynote speaker this year was Captain Al Haynes, the pilot that crash-landed in Sioux City in 1989.

Join us on June 15, 2010 to learn more about how you can earn your four year degree through Mount Mercy College as they offer classes at your local county Kirkwood Center.Beginning this fall, adult students can earn their bachelor (4-year) degree through Mount Mercy College at any Kirkwood location.
