Business : Melissa Schwan takes over as VU director

Melissa Schwan has been named the new director of Vinton Unlimited.
Jon Clingman announced the decison on behalf of the VU Board of Directors.
“I would like to welcome Melissa to her new position as our Executive Director,” Clingman said. “We are confident that Melissa will jump right in to her new position. One of her qualities that really stood out to us was her demonstrated eagerness to lead. She was a student ambassador for Upper Iowa University. She took part in many major community projects while attending school at Fayette and she graduated with a Master of Public Administration Degree. We look forward to working with Melissa and hope you have an opportunity soon to meet Melissa and her family and welcome them to town."

Schwan said she and her husband were "looking for a vibrant, thriving smaller community" about a year ago while looking to buy their first home.

"Vinton caught our eye right away," Schwan said. "We were instantly impressed with all of the businesses and activities offered in town. We knew it was the right community for our family - and we haven't been disappointed. We are thrilled to call Vinton our home."

Concerning her new position, Schwan said, "As I step into the director position at Vinton Unlimited, I look forward to getting to know everybody in town and working hard to continue to help Vinton grow and thrive. My door is always open if you would like to stop in and chat."

Schwan and her husband Mike, have a 3-month-old son, Hudson.
